Short Hair StyleShorter wigs fall above the chin and tend to be easier to care for, dry quickly and require smaller amounts of wig care products so those products will go much further. Shorter wigs also tend to be lighter in weight and cooler in warmer climates. Because of the nature of the shorter styles, they tend to fit busy lifestyles or lifestyles of those that are unable to spend as much time caring for their hair.

Synthetic HairSynthetic wigs are more natural-looking than ever before. Synthetics can be shampooed and dried naturally with minimal care. Less costly than human hair wigs, they retain their style very well. Synthetic wigs were designed to stay and look the way you originally bought them. Synthetic fibers can be manufactured in just about any color unlike human hair. White and grey colors are generally only made from synthetic fibers. The life of a good synthetic wig can be 1 to 2 years or more, depending on care and quality.

Cap Size: AVERAGEAVERAGE SIZES are 21½ inches to 22¼ inches. 95% of wigs are made to fit these sizes, but can be stretched or adjusted down about an inch either way to accommodate smaller or larger head sizes. Be aware that cap sizes vary from brand to brand, and you should make sure before you buy that the cap is right for your size. Some caps will stretch better than others, but most caps can be made smaller.

Skin Top Cap

A large portion of the cap is constructed of some type of mesh, usually monofilament or polyester (monotop shown in picture), and then a layer of flesh-colored material is added underneath (not shown), with individual strands of hair knotted usually by hand into the mesh. This gives the appearance of the hair growing from your own scalp. With the cap made in this manner the part can be moved to the left, right or center.
Note: Most styles are designed for a specific ethnic group with lighter or darker skin material accordingly. Manufacturers do not offer a choice so if you are choosing a style that is intended for a particular ethnic group and your skin tone isn't typical of that group, you may end up with a part or hairline that is too light or too dark for your skin tone.
